Compared to the 3 other Chinese bakeries in Chinatown I’ve tried, this one is BY FAR the best. Really tasty breads, cheap prices; I’ve gotten two full bags worth of goods here and it’s still under $20. LOVE the pork bbq so I highly recommend either the pork bbq baked buns or steamed buns. The hotdog buns are good too. My boyfriend also loves the sticky rice. If you come in early, the products will still be warm and freshly baked. Worth the visit!

Updated: Dec. 5, 2023 with images now added Featured here in the new images are: *steamed BBQ pork buns (bag of 3) *puff pastry BBQ pork treats (pack of 3) *Chinese version of a crispy square (known commonly as 'Sachima') *coconut bun All are divine. Give them a try! Original post: First off, I wish I had photos. I must remember to take some the next time I'm there. If you're looking for fresh Chinese buns and you happen to be at the Spadina Dundas Chinatown, you have to give Mashion Bakery a try. Located on Spadina, just a tad north of Dundas, the exterior is unassuming and you might just walk past without giving it a second thought. Hold your horses right there and step inside. You won't be disappointed by their variety and prices. My last haul - I picked up some steamed pork and veggie buns (3 in a pack), red bean mochi balls (4 in a pack, generous and hefty), deep fried pork dumplings (3 in a pack, with a crunchy brown exterior and still warm!), BBQ pork buns, Pineapple buns, Coconut buns, and more. A bit over the top, I know, but I had to get enough to share with the rest of the family! Prices were very affordable and the sizes of most of the buns are generous. The BBQ pork bun is on the smaller size but the filling was delicious, signature, and comparable to the price I paid, so for me, that was a good deal. I appreciate that buns were wrapped and place appeared clean. There was a steady ongoing flow of customers who, like me, were piling on the buns to their trays! If you go to Mashion Bakery, you'll see a variety of baked and steamed Chinese buns, some deep fried treats as well as a smaller selection of sliced sweet cakes and boxed Chinese cookies as well as signature Chinese pastries. You see, now I want to take a trip downtown to pick me up some buns!

I love going to Asian bakeries since they're usually far less pricey than their European counterpart. By far, Mashion Bakery is one of the best Chinese style bakery in downtown Toronto. Once you step into the store you will find buns of all kind, baked or steamed, and various cakes stacked with cream and fruits and decorated with frosting. They're individually wrapped and it's a self-serve model where you take a tray and a pair of tongs and select whatever you like. One takeaway is to visit this bakery in the morning for best results. I find that the baked goods especially the buns and egg custard tarts are at their peak while still warm plus there's not a lot of choices left when you come in the afternoon or nearer to closing time. My top 3 go-to favourites here are the Cheese Beef Hotdog Bun, Pineapple Red Bean Bun, and Baked BBQ Pork Bun. Although a lot pricier compared to regular buns, the cheese beef hotdog bun is soft and tender and the quality of the beef hotdog is not bad at all. The pineapple red bean bun although a bit sweeter for my liking (due to the red bean filling) has a good ratio of filling to bread. I liked to get the baked version of the bbq pork bun rather than the steamed one because the bread is better. Prices are reasonable and definitely one of the best cheap eats in Toronto.

My favourite bakery in Chinatown. I come here for the veggie spring rolls and red bean buns. I like the fact that the baked goods are individually wrapped. Prices are also very reasonable!

Hidden gem alert-The pastries here are out of this world, especially the Taro Paste—so soft and tender… and just $1.5! It is cash only though.

Delicious looking steamed and baked buns at reasonable prices (eg $3.75 for a bag of 3 giant veggie and pork buns), but you need cash! They have a $15 minimum for debit purchases and don't look like they take credit cards at all.

Chinese bakery which sells bread and pastries for cheap! You can find things for under $2. They have milk tea and coffee that I can't wait to try. Their pineapple pork bun is possibly my favourite.
